Heidelberg, Germany

Our trip to Heidelberg today was an amazing first view of Germany.  We rode the train from Kaiserslautern to Heidelberg, which was in itself a trip to remember.  The tracks winded through small villages (one of witch was the town of Frankenstein, perched along the side of the mountains) - absolutely beautiful scenery the entire way.  Once we arrived in Heidelberg, we walked by the river and through houses to the entrance for the Schloss tram.  We rode the tram up to see Schloss Heidelberger (Heidelberg Castle).  It is an enormous and beautiful castle situated on the side of the mountain.  This castle took my breath away!

John has a thing for cathedrals and for universities, so this church is a perfect stop for him.... It is located down in the university district of Heidelberg and has amazing marble and artwork in it's interior.  This particular one is the Jesuitenkirche Heidelberg (the Jesuit Church of Heidelberg).

A walk through the downtown market place of Heidelberg.  Very representative to the traditional marketplaces and building throughout Germany, except that this one is exceptionally big.  We had lunch at German Tex-Mex place :) in the marketplace.  Not bad food, just different!
